The old Lego Hogwarts set is the sort of thing fans salivate over, but its eye-watering price rains on that particular parade. Well, until now. It's currently sitting pretty at its best price in over a year, and the new version has also hit its cheapest-ever point.
You can currently pick up the original Lego Hogwarts Castle (71043) for £307.49 at Amazon rather than almost £410, which is a 25% reduction overall. Similarly, the newer upgrade ('Hogwarts Castle and Grounds') has also been slashed by a considerable amount. That one's hit its lowest-ever price, bringing it down to £126.99 at Amazon instead of £149.99.
Because the OG Hogwarts is often held up as one of the best Lego sets thanks to its ridiculous level of detail, that reduction is pretty tempting on the whole. In fact, I'd be surprised if it got better for this year's Black Friday Lego deals due to its price history.
Lego Hogwarts Castle | £409.99 £307.49 at Amazon
Save £102 - That's the cheapest this kit has been since June 2022. Although it isn't the set's lowest price (it hit £299.99 early last year), that kind of reduction is very rare. It doesn't traditionally drop for Black Friday either, so you should be safe to dive in now.
Buy it if:
✅ You adore the castle
✅ You want the most detailed version
Don't buy it if:
❌ You don't have much display space
Price check:
💲 Lego £409.99
💲 John Lewis £307.49
Lego Hogwarts Castle and Grounds | £149.99 £126.99 at Amazon
Save £23 - That's this new kit's lowest price to date, and because it suddenly dipped to this level, we doubt it'll drop much (if any) more for November's Black Friday sale.
Buy it if:
✅ You don't have lots of display space
✅ The bigger version is too expensive for you
Don't buy it if:
❌ You really want the older, massive version
Price check:
💲 Lego £149.99
💲 Smyths £129.99
Should you buy the Lego Hogwarts Castle?
If you're wondering whether the bricky version of this wizard school is worth grabbing, I'd say there are a couple of things to consider first. To begin with, how much space do you have? This is a chunky model, so plenty of room to display it is required. (Size is where the smaller Hogwarts Castle and Grounds set wins.) Secondly, do you want the most detailed version of Hogwarts out there? This is it. While the newer version is awesome, it's less precise due to that reduced footprint.
Either way, you don't have too long to decide. The original Lego Hogwarts Castle set is retiring in mid-2024, which means it'll become much harder to find next year. Because significant price cuts for this one are rare, it's not a bad idea to snatch it up now while it's sitting at its cheapest point in a year.
