Kevin Feige teases potential Captain Marvel movie

Kevin Feige has been discussing the possibility of bringing some more female superheroes to the big screen, with Captain Marvel one of the names frequently proposed by the online fandom.

“We’ve talked a lot about her,” revealed Feige, when the proposal was mooted in an interview with Badass Digest . “I think that would be very cool.”

Presumably Feige is referring to the Carol Danvers iteration of the character, which saw the series gain a new lease of life in 2012, when the long-serving Ms Marvel was promoted to the title of Captain...

Continuing on the female theme, Feige was also asked about the possibility of a Black Widow spin-off, only for the Marvel boss to suggest a fresh start might be a more appealing option...

“Frankly if we do a Black Widow movie after Age of Ultron , when she’s been central in three or four movies, I don’t think we’d get the quote unquote credit for it,” says Feige.

“People would say, ‘She’s already a big giant superhero!’ But if we had a great idea, we’d do it... I like the idea that if we’re going to do a [ female lead ], do a new one. Do a wholly new character, do an origin story.”

Looks like we’ll have to make the most of the Widow in her supporting role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier , when the film opens on 28 March 2014.
