James McAvoy will go bald for X-Men: Apocalypse

James McAvoy will finally adopt Professor Xavier’s classic appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse, with director Bryan Singer revealing an image of the Scottish star sporting a totally shaven head.

McAvoy has appeared in the last two X-movies with a full head of hair, but will apparently be going bald in the new film. In the comics, Xavier’s hair-loss is a side-effect of his mutant abilities, although whether this turns out to be the case on-screen remains to be seen.

While all the film’s publicity thus far has focused on the swathes of new mutants joining the ensemble, the new image comes as a timely reminder that the stars of the previous two films will still have a significant role to play. Magneto, Xavier, Mystique and Beast aren’t done just yet…

Directed by Singer and co-starring Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and many more, X-Men: Apocalypse will open in the UK on 19 May 2016 and the US on 27 May 2016.
