Mia Maestro ( Alias , Twilight: Breaking Dawn Parts 1 & 2) has been cast as the female lead in FX’s TV adaptation of The Strain , based on the book by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan.
She will play Dr Nora Martinez, joining the already-cast Corey Stoll. He will be playing Dr Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism.
Del Toro and Hogan will co-write the pilot which del Toro may direct (in a lunchtime between films, presumably). Carlton Cuse ( Lost , Bates Motel ) will be an executive producer and showrun the series.
The Strain was originally published in 2009, and was the first in a trilogy, followed by The Fall (2010) and The Night Eternal (2011).
