Task Bar Hero Soulstones are very rare items that you need to progress through to the end of every Act, regardless of difficulty. They're effectively keys that let you face the final boss of each Act and have a shot at an Act Boss Chest for great loot. While they aren’t easy to get, but there are some things you can do that will at least make them a bit more likely to drop, so I've explained how to get Soulstones in Task Bar Hero below and what exactly they're used for if you're still a bit confused.
How to get Task Bar Hero Soulstone
Soulstones in Task Bar Hero have a very low drop rate from Stage Boss Chests, so getting any is mainly reliant on you just getting lucky with chest drops from boss fights. You can also get Soulstones bu buying them from other players on Steam marketplace but bear in mind that they will cost real money.
In my opinion, it's not worth using the marketplace, even though Soulstones are very cheap because unlocking the right Task Bar Hero Runes can increase your odds of getting more Soulstones instead. Specifically, you want to focus on Runes of Conquest as each one will slightly increase the drop rate of Task Bar Hero Chests from Stage Bosses. More chests mean more chances to get a Soulstone.
I also recommend using the Portal feature to warp back to a slightly earlier stage, letting your party stomp through reasonably quickly and, if you're lucky, gather Common and Stage Boss Chests at a decent pace – depending on the stage you choose, you may even unlock one of the Task Bar Hero pets. How Task Bar Hero Soulstones work
After beating Stage 9 of any Act, you'll unlock Stage 10 which is the Act Boss Stage – a tough boss fight that, once beaten, will allow you to progress to the next Act of the game or a new difficulty level. However, you also need to have at least one Soulstone to begin the Act Bos fight, so use the methods mentioned above to hopefully get one.
Soulstones also come in four different flavors, each of which can only be used on Act Bosses of a certain difficulty level:
- Immortal Grade Soulstones (Red) = Normal difficulty
- Arcana Grade Soulstones (Purple) = Nightmare difficulty
- Beyond Grade Soulstones (Pink) = Hell difficulty
- Celestial Grade Soulstones (Cyan) = Torment difficulty
Once you've got a Soulstone of the relevant grade for your difficulty level, you can enter Stage 10 and battle the Act Boss. The good news is that if you fail, your Soulstone is not consumed and you're just booted back to previous Stage you were on, leaving you free to reattempt the fight until you succeed or come back later once you've levelled up a bit. When you eventually beat the boss, the Soulstone you used will be destroyed.
If you've got surplus Soulstones, you can use the Portal feature to replay Act Boss Stages for a shot at more Act Boss Chests, which usually contain some very good level-appropriate loot. Make sure you've got the characters that top the Task Bar Hero tier list in your party to make these fights easier. You could also try selling them on Steam Marketplace or using the Cube's Alchemy to turn them into Gold.
