Task Bar Hero tier list and the best characters to choose

My Task Bar Hero tier list ranks each character in the six-strong adventuring band, so you can see how they all compare and which ones are worth keeping in your party. Be aware that only four of the six heroes are free, which limits your composition options if you don't want to spend any money on Task Bar Hero. Conveniently, those four free heroes will do you just fine, and I've explained how below, ranking all the Task Bar Hero characters from S-tier to C-tier.

Task Bar Hero tier list

• S-tier: Characters that are so good that they should never leave your formation
  • Priest: Versatile and probably a bit overpowered, the Priest can output solid damage on the frontline and support the rest of the team with healing and damage buffs, negating many of the shortcomings of other heroes. She is essential to any formation.
    Note that the Priest is a free DLC character, so you will need to download her separately from the Task Bar Hero's Steam page.
• A-tier: Great characters that perform well and can fit into most formations
  • Ranger: The Ranger has a high attack speed, can hit multiple enemies with some of her skills, and deals good damage from a distance overall, but her low health is a major downside.
  • Sorcerer: Using mighty ranged area-of-effect spell Skills, the Sorcerer can blast hordes and apply strong status effects to enemies, but their low health, slow attack speed, and long Skill cooldowns are a notable drawback.
  • Hunter: The Hunter is a mix of the Ranger and Sorcerer, using a crossbow for fast-firing ranged attacks and magical area-of-effect Skills. As such, they're a versatile character that can fit in all sorts of compositions.
    Note that the Hunter is a paid DLC character, so you will need to buy her from the Task Bar Hero's Steam page.
• B-tier: Characters hindered by notable weaknesses that mean they're rarely worth taking.
  • Slayer: A powerful melee-based hero with slow attacks but mighty area-of-effect Skills and he even gets some self-healing abilities from Level 10. However, the Priest's healing is still crucial for keeping the Slayer alive on the frontline.
    Note that the Slayer is a paid DLC character, so you will need to buy him from the Task Bar Hero's Steam page.
• C-tier: Characters whose performance is sub-par and are best avoided.
  • Knight: A simple melee fighter who is good at first but proves to be more of a liability as enemies get tougher. I've found that not even good gear and healing from the Priest can make them useful until you can start unlocking some of their self-healing Skills.

In case it wasn't clear, you should download the free Priest DLC immediately as she is by far the best character in all of Task Bar Hero. The Knight or Ranger are arguably a bit better to start the game with, but once you have multiple hero slots, for your team formation, the Priest should be a permanent fixture. They will also be earning you plenty of Gold too, so make sure you're spending it on the best Task Bar Hero Rune upgrades – with the right ones you can bolster your party's power and increase the drop rates of Task Bar Hero Chests, helping you get superior gear for your fighters.

As for the rest of the adventurers, I found that from testing out all sorts of Task Bar Hero builds, there's no point using any of the heroes below A-tier. TBH is a game that should be always played optimally so that your heroes can farm resources as efficiently as possible, helping you upgrade them and make good progress through the game – though you'll also need Task Bar Hero Soulstones to make it through each Act. Unfortunately, that means using the Slayer or Knight is rarely worth it as they die so often that they can be a detriment to your party and your progress through the game.

To improve your party's resource-gathering skills even more, try to unlock all Task Bar Hero pets as you go.
