The X-Files reboot is slowly moving ahead with Sinners director Ryan Coogler the mastermind behind the new series. We also know that it will feature two new leads, played by Till's Danielle Deadwyler and The Odyssey's Himesh Patel.
However, there has been a question mark over just how connected it will be to the original series, which starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Now it seems like Chris Carter, who created the show, has let slip a key connection.
“At least Gillian, I think, is going to appear in the Coogler version," he told Polygon. "And I'm assuming David will too, so you will see Mulder and Scully there." Intriguing…
Carter would be in the know too as he's an executive producer on the new version. However, it's not entirely a surprise that Anderson has some involvement as she previously revealed that she's read the pilot script.
"We've had a few conversations," she said of Coogler at Washington DC's Awesome Con back in March. "He's such a cool guy and so talented, and the pilot script is really good. So, I would say, 'Have an open mind and give it a chance because it's gonna be f***ing cool.' It really is. It's something different. It's different and it's special."
To tide you over in the meantime, a new version of The X-Files: I Want to Believe has just arrived on Disney Plus and Hulu. This features Carter's directors' cut, which brings in some of the horror elements that were removed from the original 2008 movie.
