The Avengers: Doomsday cast list is supersized, but one person who is missing from the roster is Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.
While it's possible Jackman's appearance is being kept under wraps, Cyclops star James Marsden has seemingly confirmed that Wolverine will not appear in the Marvel Phase 6 film.
"I love Hugh Jackman, and I love the dynamic between Wolverine and Cyclops," Marsden told ComicBook.com. "It was always a brotherly, healthy competition between the two of them, where they were annoyed with each other. It did feel like a brotherly relationship. I wouldn't say that I was excited to slide into that role without him barking in my ear. He was missed. I'm trying to… answer, without saying too much… Yeah, that's my answer."
Naturally, though, no one believes him. "Literally what Chris Evans said about not getting to be involved with doomsday and now look," points out one person. Evans is indeed reprising his role as Steve Rogers in the new Avengers film, confirmed by the first trailer.
"Ok so like either he's lying or Hugh is gonna be in Secret Wars," argues another person. "There's literally no way Wolverine is not in this movie dawg," says someone else. Others argue that Jackman is in the movie, just with no scenes with Marsden.
We don't have long to wait to find out what the truth is. Avengers: Doomsday lands this December 18. Along with Marsden, the massive cast includes the likes of Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Anthony Mackie's Captain America, the Thunderbolts, the Fantastic Four, and other Fox X-Men like Patrick Stewart's Professor X and Ian McKellen's Magneto.
