Robert Pattinson says he hopes that fans will love the sequel to Matt Reeves' 2022 DC hit The Batman... and he seems pretty stoked about it.
"I mean, the script is so good.... I think it's kind of crazy. The first one was like a little bit of a different type of Batman movie, and this is like really a different type of Batman movie," Pattinson told Filme Gitmeden Önce. "I think hopefully people will be really pleasantly surprised by it. Yeah, I'm really excited."
The film hit theaters back in 2022 and grossed $772 million against a budget of $200 million, earning three Academy Award nominations (Best Makeup, Best Sound, and Best VFX). It was immediately greenlit for a sequel, and given an initial release date of October 2025. Well, October 2025 actually ended up being around the time that Reeves turned in the script for the film... with DC boss James Gunn taking to social media to defend Reeves, calling him a "slow writer" and putting an end to rumors about the sequel being cancelled due to Gunn and Peter Safran's leadership takeover.
Article continues belowWe don't know much about the upcoming film, though we do know that the sequel is set to take place a few weeks after The Penguin season 1. Colin Farrell has indeed confirmed that Oz Cobblepot will appear in the sequel (as there will be no Penguin season 2), though in a much more reduced role. Andy Serkis is also expected to return as Alfred Pennyworth, with Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon. Marvel stars Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan have joined the cast in undisclosed roles.
The Batman 2 is set to (finally) hit theaters on October 1, 2027. For more, check out our ranking of the best Batman movies, and keep up with upcoming DC movies coming your way.
