The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender movie is seemingly getting shadow dropped last minute after full movie leak
The leaked Avatar movie might be getting a last minute shadow drop
The leaked The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender movie might be getting a surprise release this month.
That's according to Paramount Plus Brazil, which, per a user on Resetera, shared a July line-up that included the movie releasing on July 25, then deleted the post (we haven't seen the supposed post on official channels with our own eyes, so take it with a pinch of salt). The movie was originally set for release on October 9.
As other users have pointed out, that date coincides with SDCC, so it looks like there might have been a plan to shadow drop the movie during a potential panel for the film. If that's the case, the surprise has unfortunately been spoiled.
The Avatar movie seems to be plagued with bad luck, after footage was leaked earlier this year by a user known as ImStillDissin. Full, non-watermarked versions of the movie then appeared online via a separate person. The movie was so widely viewed that it even showed up in Letterboxd's "popular this week" list.
In other Avatar news, the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2 recently released on Netflix, though it suffered a 59% drop in viewers from season 1. Our Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2 review awarded the show three stars, with our verdict reading: "Netflix's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 struggles under the weight of adapting the events of its animated counterpart while still allowing for major character beats that work from the likes of Zuko, Sokka, and especially Toph. The sophomore effort is better in basically every way to its first season, but fumbles in ways that make its future concerning."
"It was a huge bummer, because I was really excited to watch it," live-action Zuko actor Dallas Liu told GamesRadar+ of the animated movie leaks.
