There's a deep cut Easter egg in the new Street Fighter trailer, and it involves none other than directing duo Danny and Michael Philippou aka RackaRacka.
In the trailer, which can be viewed above, there's a scene where two literal street fighters are fighting in a crowd in a parking lot. That exact frame (and you can see the trailer and video game side by side in a handy video from Nerdist) is a direct homage to the loading screen from 1991's Street Fighter 2 (the movie itself takes place in 1993). That loading screen features two fighters named Matt and Scott (who weren't named until 2016), and the two can be seen among that crowd in the trailer. To make this even cooler, the two people playing Max and Scott are none other than Danny and Michael.
This is cool for two reasons: RackaRacka is behind the ridiculous (and viral) Real Life Street Fighter video that hit YouTube 10 years ago, and they were the original directors of the new Street Fighter movie until they ultimately turned it down due to scheduling conflicts. The conflict in question is their second full-length horror feature, Bring Her Back, which serves as a follow-up to the equally terrifying Talk to Me.
