The award winning SF author has been appointed Writer in Residence at Edinburgh Napier University
“I’m delighted and honoured to be chosen for this amazing post,” says MacLeod, who was also a guest at this year's SFX Weekender and is an occasional contributor to our Book Club page . “Over the years I have been hugely impressed with the quality and commitment of the creative writing students, and by the theoretical depth, practical focus and wide knowledge the lecturers and course leaders bring to it.”
One of the most respected authors in British science fiction, MacLeod has won three Prometheus Awards and numerous accolades from the British Science Fiction Association . His 13 published novels have ranged from hard SF space operas like The Star Fraction (1995) to his new dystopian novel, Intrusion (2012), reviewed by SFX in March .
MacLeod will spend an average of two days a week at Edinburgh Napier mentoring students. He succeeds Doctor Who writer Robert Shearman. Former literary agent Sam Kelly - who runs the MA course alongside writer David Bishop - says MacLeod’s appointment is a “perfect fit”.
SFX readers who enjoy a good SF book might like to know that the final issue in our three-month Summer Of SF Reading goes on sale next Wednesday (22 August). To read more from Ken MacLeod, visit his blog .
