James Mangold says Wolverine 3 begins filming next year

The wheels are now firmly in motion on the third standalone Wolverine film, with director James Mangold confirming that cameras will begin rolling on the project at some point next year.

Mangold was asked when filming would begin on the sequel by a fan via Twitter, and responded concisely with the reply, “early next year”.

Given the struggles that the last film went through on the road to getting made, it’s nice to see things ticking over smoothly on this one, although we won’t get too excited until the first on-set images begin appearing…

Little is known about the new film, save for the fact that Charles Xavier is likely to feature in some capacity and that the script is currently being penned by David James Kelly.

Wolverine 3 is currently scheduled to open on 3 March 2017, although Hugh Jackman can next be seen donning the claws in X-Men: Apocalypse, which opens on 23 May 2016.
