The Halo Infinite Cyber Showdown event is here, a two-week dystopian gunfight in which Spartans can earn cyberpunk cosmetics, armor, backdrops and various customisation options. There's also new game modes to make use of, with challenges and a special free Battle Pass that all tie together for Halo Infinite's week-long flirtation with William Gibson.
Below we've laid out all the new details on the Cyber Showdown event, including challenges, rewards, dates and game modes you can check out, including details on the Attrition mode and how it works. Cyber Showdown is fairly similar so far to the Halo Infinite Tenrai event, but with some important distinctions that are worth knowing about. Halo Infinite Cyber Showdown event end date
The Halo Infinite Cyber Showdown event is lasting for two weeks, from 18th January to the 31st January, but at time of writing there's no clear return date for the event. That's not to say it won't be back, but it's not confirmed either way, meaning that this might be the only opportunity for players to earn the cyberpunk-themed extras that are the event rewards.
Halo Infinite Cyber Showdown event rewards
Not including the two weekly challenge events there's ten rewards in the Cyber Showdown event for players to earn, including a variety of customisation options. We've laid them all out below in order:
- Rank 1: Expecting Trouble (Stance)
- Rank 2: Electric Bubblegum (weapon skin)
- Rank 3: Cross Glitch (backdrop)
- Rank 4: Brute Rock (backdrop)
- Rank 5: Neon Screen (hologram visor armor effect)
- Rank 6: Electric Bubblegum (armor skin)
- Rank 7: Kukri (charm)
- Rank 8: Blackpool (visor)
- Rank 9: Hunter Blood (AI color)
- Rank 10: Neon Hawk (hologram mohawk armor effect)
These rewards are earned by completing the limited-time Cyber Showdown challenges - marked out among all the other weekly challenges by the orange stripe running down their left side. Most of these challenges are linked to the new Attrition game mode, which is where you'll likely be spending most of your time.
Attrition in Cyber Showdown
The new Attrition game mode is at the center of the Cyber Showdown event. It's a new multiplayer game type that's not particularly well-explained by the game itself, but that's where we come in. What are the Cyber Showdown event challenges?
There's ten total challenges for each player to help fill out the new Cyber Showdown Battle Pass, along with the standard array of challenges that appear each week. These challenges are all tied to Attrition and tend to have pretty good experience payoffs, along with being fairly simple. Kills, victories, assists, weapon use or just completing matches - we haven't seen any new challenges that seem outlandish or impossible, meaning getting your robotic mohawk should just be a matter of time.
