It's official: Mass Effect 2 is coming to PlayStation 3 [VIDEO]

PS3-owning fans of space-based RPGs rejoice! BioWare boss Dr Ray Muzyka has officially revealed that Mass Effect 2 is making its way to PS3, arriving on Sony's console sometime in January 2011. Muzyka described the news as "friggin' awesome."

There's not much else to say about it, so here's a picture of the announcement being announced at EA's Gamescom press conference just moments ago.

    Hey PS3 owners, props to you all. These games are great. Glad to see you can enjoy this series along with all of us Xbox 360 owners. You'll now see how trully great a series this is. Right up there with Star Trek & Star Wars (blasphlemy I know)! You'll also get to see that the Normandy v.2.0 is up there with the Millenium Falcon & Enterprise as awesomelly cool space crafts.

    Guess I know what I'm buying soon! I got 1000/1000 for Mass Effect 2 on the Xbox360 so I guess I'm gonna be getting Platinum for this game now.

    Oh and for all of the people in the comments who are saying that without Mass Effect 1 coming as well, this is all pointless... if your answer, when asked how much Mass Effect 1's storyline contributes to the sequel, is anything BUT "Jackshit", then you're a troll. I'm calling you that because I've played both and all of what you did in Mass Effect 1 was gone the very nano-second you start Mass Effect 2. Don't believe me?

    Definitely didn't see this coming. I wonder if people will be able to choose their major choices or if they will be stuck with the default 'Shepard fucked everything' scenario. At any rate, the game is still fantastic on it's own.

    well... like some say... w.out the first one it's kind of meh. i got ME on the computer, and... since i plan on using one of my old chars i'd rather get it on the comp again...

    but... those trophies... yummm who knows, it'll be a matter of whatever xD

    huh... they used the spiderman font.. weird. Hope they do some stuff to take advantage of the extra hardware power, maybe just make it look a bit softer, it's got that unreal everything's hard and slick look.

    First comment: HAH! This made me laugh. Seriously, the amount of vitriol that 360 and PS3 fanboys (as well some PC people) spouted off was ridiculous. The huge wall of denial that 360 fans put up saying this would never happen... ahh I love it. Truly priceless.

    Second comment: Good for BioWare. I love BioWare's products, and the more money they make the more they can invest into upcoming titles.

    Third comment: The default story really isn't that bad. I do love having my decisions persist to the other games and have since Baldur's Gate did it back in the 90s, but if you haven't played the first one you don't really know what you're missing anyway. My friend picked this up on the 360 recently (I offered him my ME1 copy free since I bought it on PC and prefer PC but he didn't want it), and he absolutely loves it despite not having the played the first one.

    Fourth Comment: You need to play this game if you haven't.

    To all PS3 guys, Im pissed that you get to play this game as I had to buy a PS3 to play the exclusives on it... and this is by far the best exclusive (excluding PC) that 360 has so Im pretty bitter that they got they're hands on it.

    As for all the wankers who say that this is pointless without ME1, Im assuming they are just saying that to piss off the PS3 guys and get them worried. I played through the first time with my original decisions and it did enhance the game but not like they are making it out... My second play through was with a clean slate and it was very much the same experience (still a 10 for sure). You should be thanking your lucky stars that you get to play this.

    @DOCCON about FF 13 and all that, I think 360 fans are more mature with this kinda stuff then PS3 users. Look at the Killzone 2 and Infamous reviews and all that shit storm the SONY fans started. I love my PS3, I am a PS3 fan, but I am ashamed that because of these idiots, I (a PS3 fan) am getting lumped in with these fanatics.

    also, to anyone sying that ME 2 coming to PS3 without 1 is pointless, thats just stupid. ME 2s story is still great, and maybe the first will come to PS3 one day. We dont know. How many times has a dev said something WOULD NOT happen, but it does? Hell, ME 2 itself is a prime example.

    I do feel a little weird about it going to PS3 though. It should stay an exclusive title to 360. I don't see God of FUCKING War coming to 360!!!! So why the fuck should Mass Effect go to PS3???? Don't get me wrong, I own a PS3. I just don't think Mass Effect should be on the PS3.
