Neverdead is a new game from Konami. It grabbed my attention when I saw this amusing limb-exploding screenshot:
The twist to this particular story (which is an otherwise pretty standard tale of demon slayers and demons) is that Neverdead's hero is immortal and can pull his body apart at will. So in addition to battling demons with his sword and guns, he'll also be able to, er, roll his head at them. Sounds weird. It is weird. This is the trailer for it:
Looks like a shooty game with monsters, meets Beetlejuice, meets John Carpenter's The Thing, meets this dude:
I am most definitely in for a bit of Neverdead. The whole decapitation/limb removal thing is a gimmick, but it's a gimmick I'm absolutely willing to embrace. It'll be interesting to see how the game is balanced. What with the main character not being able to die and all that.
Neverdead is being developed by Rebellion (they did the decent Aliens vs Predator) and is 'head'-ing to PS3 and 360 at some as-yet unspecified point in the future.
