So there's even more reasons to play Homefront: The Revolution than just blowing lots of things up and making guerillas in the mist jokes. Hiding in an arcade cabinet in occupied Philadelphia is the first two levels of none other than glorious FPS TimeSplitters 2. Look for a makeshift prison area for this lovely little Easter egg but don't start hoping for a sequel any time soon.
As reported by Kotaku the reason it's in there is a little convoluted but Homefront: The Revolution was originally being developed by Crytek's UK based studio. The imaginatively named Crytek UK had previously been Free Radical Design, the original developers of TimeSplitters, and hid the game within a game like a glorious bullet ridden Inception. When Deep Silver took over Homefront when Crytek couldn't pay its UK studio, the dev team was renamed Dambusters. Thus neither Deep Silver or Dambusters hold the Timesplitters license but the Easter Egg remains in the game. Clear as mud, isn't it?
Regardless, you can play the first two levels of TimeSplitters 2 in all their (probably very pixelated) glory when Homefront: The Revolution is out on PS4, Xbox One and PC in May. Check out the new trailer above.
