Rumour: Fast & Furious 8 to hinge on Eva Mendes return?

Fast & Furious 8's plot may hinge on the return of a familiar face, with Latino Review reporting that Eva Mendes may be set to make a return to the franchise in the next film.

According to writer El Mayimbe, the new film will be set in New York, with Mendes’ character Monica Fuentes apparently crucial to the storyline. She was briefly introduced at the beginning of Fast Five, but that cameo could well be extended into a full role if the actress can be persuaded to return.

With Fast & Furious 7 currently storming the global box office, there appears to be no end in sight for the staggeringly popular franchise. Vin Diesel has even gone as far as to say he envisages the series as a trio of trilogies, indicating that at least two more films could be on the way.

Until then, US and UK audiences continue to flock to the seventh film in droves, with Fast & Furious 7 in cinemas now.
