Jessica Jones viewers who happened to also be fans of the Marvel heroine Hellcat were no doubt watching the character of Trish closely over the course of season one. The child star turned talk show host never went full superhero as she has in the comics, but the groundwork for her eventual transformation was laid, and now actress Rachael Taylor says that if Marvel is willing to bring Hellcat into the MCU, she's ready.
"Of course, I mean, it would be amazing," Taylor told Comic Book Resources when asked how she would respond if becoming a "full-fledged" superhero was in her future. "I mean, it's already a privilege to play a history that has so much lineage within the Marvel Universe. And to take it that one step further is something that, yeah, I'd love to get my teeth stuck into whatever happens to the character."
If Trish were to take on the Hellcat alias, it sounds like Taylor already has an idea for how she would approach it. "I think for Trish ... there's a certain covetous part of her. I think she covets some of the things that Jessica has. I think there is an unholy ambition that sits just under the surface." Taylor said she thinks Trish wants to immerse herself in Jessica's superpowered life, or even save Jessica from the threats she faces. "I'm intrigued to see where that leads her, how far she'll take it."
Perhaps we'll find out in season two.
Starring Krysten Ritter, Rachael Taylor, and David Tennant, Jessica Jones season one is now available on Netflix. A release date for season two has not yet been announced.
