Yes, we know, this year's Black Friday board game deals are still months away. But the sales event of 2021 will be here before we know it. To help give you an idea of what to look out for when the discounts arrive in full force, we've listed some tips below.

And seriously, being ready ahead of time is a good idea where Black Friday board game deals are concerned. To begin with, it's the perfect opportunity to grab presents for yourself or your loved ones ahead of Christmas - they'll arrive well before the big day itself, meaning you can all play together during the Holidays. Plus, this sale is a chance to pick up critically-acclaimed but oh-so-expensive games a huge discount. Put off by the price of some of the best board games? Black Friday's your time to strike.

When will the Black Friday board game deals start?

The Black Friday board game deals traditionally kick off at the end of November, and it's no different this year; the sales event is slated for November 26, followed by Cyber Monday on November 29.

That isn't to say all the offers are limited to those two days, though. The event has ballooned in size recently, and now it gets going a week or so before the official kick-off date. While the best deals are reserved for Black Friday itself, these early discounts are still pretty good.

What will the best Black Friday board game deals be?

There's a lot of ground to cover when the Black Friday board game deals get started, so what should you look out for? Considering the sale's proximity to Christmas, board games for families such as Pandemic, Catan, and Ticket to Ride are always a good shout; they're usually cheaper than normal and will go down really well if you're visiting loved ones over the Holiday season.

However, it's worth pointing out that those games always seem to be on sale. The discount you'll get during Black Friday isn't dissimilar to other year-round reductions, either. As such, the best deals tend to be on more expensive board games for adults such as Descent: Legends of the Dark, Mansions of Madness, or Twilight Imperium. Because these usually weigh in at $100/£100+, being able to pick them up for less isn't an opportunity to miss - especially considering the fact that Gloomhaven, often considered to be one of the best cooperative board games out there, tumbled to its lowest ever price during last year's Black Friday board game deals.

Just make sure you don't wait too long on the off-chance you get a better offer. As demonstrated by Gloomhaven in 2020, it's unlikely to happen; this will probably be your best chance of scoring a bargain. Plus, there's always the danger that the game in question sells out or leaps back up to full price before long. We've been burned by that ol' chestnut before.

Where will I find the best Black Friday board game deals?

It sounds obvious, but this really is Amazon's time to shine. It's consistently got the lowest and best prices throughout the Black Friday board game deals, so head straight there when we hit November 26. We've been doing this for a while, and the best prices almost always wind up being at Amazon.

That's not to say the competition isn't worth checking out, though. Smaller retailers can often pull a surprise bargain out of nowhere, so it's always a good idea to check out the likes of Wayland Games just in case.

There are more than a few discounts to trawl through during the Black Friday board game deals, and almost every game imaginable gets a price cut (well, nearly). However, some reductions are more eye-catching than others. As we mentioned earlier, more expensive 'hobby' games like Gloomhaven, Root, Descent, Mansions of Madness, Scythe, or Twilight Imperium are where you should focus your attention - these usually cost an arm and a leg, so the big savings they get during November are more than a little noteworthy.

To give you an idea of what to shoot for, we've listed the board games we think are going to be ones to watch this year.

Naturally, Black Friday board game deals aren't the only things worth looking into. The sales event also has a lot of other gear at massively reduced prices, including Black Friday Lego deals.
