Adam West and Burt Ward confirm Batman 66 animated movie

Stars of the original 1966 Batman TV series Adam West and Burt Ward announced their involvement in a new animated feature film during a fan convention this past weekend. The news broke whilst the pair participated in a Batman panel at the Mad Monster Party, held in Charlotte, North Carolina.

West previously played Batman and Ward his trusty sidekick Robin in a live-action TV series based on the DC Comics characters. The show ran for three seasons from 1966-1968 and amassed a huge fanbase that still thrives to this day. By the sounds of things, the pair won’t be donning the lycra for the upcoming movie but will instead be voicing the iconic characters. Check out the official announcement below:

"You can look forward to a new, animated Batman full-length 90-minute feature coming out on the fiftieth anniversary," Ward told the crowd. "One of possibly two, but for sure one, that Adam and I are going to be doing the voices for."

Next year will now herald the arrival of two Batman-centric movies; West and Ward’s animated throwback and Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. There’s currently no release date scheduled for the West/Ward Batman movie, but you can catch Snyder’s feature on March 25, 2016.
