Steven Spielberg is reportedly keen to direct Disney’s Indiana Jones franchise reboot. According to Deadline, the legendary filmmaker would be happy to sign on “assuming a script comes in to his satisfaction.”
The outlet went on to say that Spielberg’s people are remaining cautious as “it’s too early to determine what will happen because there is no script yet and they are just getting going.”
The project recently hit headlines when Guardians Of The Galaxy star Chris Pratt emerged as the frontrunner to play Indiana Jones. That rumor still has yet to be confirmed by official sources. However, considering that Spielberg personally selected Pratt for Jurassic World implies he’s rather taken - much like the rest of the world - with the actor.
Should the director reach an agreement, this would mark his fifth time behind the camera on an Indy flick. He directed Harrison Ford as the archaeologist adventurer in the original trilogy between 1981 and 1989, followed up by 2008’s Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.
