We have a second trailer for Star Trek Beyond and it's toned down the action and amped up the storyline, showing the crew of the Enterprise lost in space. One of the main criticisms of the first trailer was that it felt more like an action movie in keeping with director Justin Lin's Fast & Furious films, rather than the sci-fi adventure fans had come to expect.
This is something the second trailer tries to fix. The action is still very much there, but we get to know a bit more about what's happened to our favourite Starfleet crew. Chris Pine's Captain Kirk is doubting himself and it seems some of his crew have been kidnapped by Idris Elba's Krall. Watch the trailer below...
I enjoyed the trailer a lot more than the first one, although it still does have a very high-speed car chase feel to it. It was good to get a better idea of what's happened to our heroes, plus even more footage of new characters Krall and Jaylah, played by Kingsman's Sofia Boutella. The second trailer also came with a new, pretty eye-catching, poster that you can see below...
Directed by Justin Lin and starring Idris Elba, Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana, Star Trek Beyond will hit theaters in the US and UK on July 22, 2016.
