It was announced as Young Hannibal - the tale of Thomas Harris' brain-chomping psychiatrist psychopath. Great idea, bad title.
Well thank the lords of Tinseltown! They've had a fiddle with the moniker and Peter Webber's flick is now called Hannibal Rising. The movie takes us through the life of an adolescent Lecter as he comes to terms with the death of his parents in World War II.
We then flick through two phases of the formative killer's life. A decade in London is followed by his travels to the US, where he is hunted and captured by FBI agent Will Graham.
Young French thesp Gaspard Ulliel (A Very Long Engagement) carves his mark on the menacing Doc, with assistance from co-stars Gong Li and Rhys Ifans.
All sounds top-notch. Colour us excited. Shame they decided to give the iconic Hannibal mask a dirty, great shonk on the poster, eh?
