Helldivers 2's Warhammer crossover arrives next month, bringing the Bolt Pistol and other 40K weapons as well as some extremely appropriate armor
Truly no better partnership when it comes to war
The crossover we've been waiting for is finally about to arrive. Warhammer 40,000 is coming to Helldivers 2 in the form of new weapons, armor, stratagems and more, to make destroying the bugs and robots even easier than before.
Developer Arrowhead Game Studios has shared a trailer revealing everything in the Helldivers 2 Warhammer 40K Warbond, and there's plenty to dig into. Right off the bat, and I think we all expected this, the Bolt Pistol is being added to the armory. A safe, sturdy piece of kit that'll reduce any insect to flailing limbs.
Then you've the Meltamine, used against Automatons in the video to demonstrate its usefulness against metal and heavy armor. Anything that gives robot scum and even worse day is perfectly fine by me. Preferable, even.
The Hot Shot Marksman Rifle rounds out the standard weapons, a semi-automatic sniper made for picking out headshots when faced with a maelstrom of enemies. Ideal for giving cover, or staving off a wave of insects from a distance.
While these can be used for your loadouts, the Meltagun is a new stratagem. I gawked at first at the notion of this not being something I can lock and load as soon as I drop in, but then seeing it in action, I get it. Melting things by pulling a trigger is a power you should earn, and only for a limited time.
Two sets of armor accompany these, inspired by the Astra Militarum's Kasrkin, which are certainly far more appropriate for Super Earth's loyal army of death-prone soldiers than the more robust, superhuman Space Marines of the 40K universe, for example. Otherwise, there's a smattering of other minor changes that'll come in tow. It all looks like a lot of fun, especially if you like war, and boy howdy, do I like war.
The Warhammer 40,000 collaboration kicks off on August 12.
