Fossilized Lightning in Arc Raiders explained
Electromagnetic storms in Arc Raiders now have a chance to create Fossilized Lightning
Arc Raiders has introduced Fossilized Lightning, a new kind of item for players to find and harvest from the depths of the harshest possible storms. In reality this substance is called Fulgurite, but here it's a lot simpler than that, a material that can be sold back at Speranza or broken down for additional materials. Below I'll explain how to get Fossilized Lightning, and what you should do with it when you find the stuff.
How to get Fossilized Lightning in Arc Raiders
Fossilized Lightning has a small chance to spawn in the craters left by lightning bolts during the Arc Raiders Electromagnetic Storm map modifier events.
After lightning hits, check the burnt ground where it landed, and you'll have a chance to see a piece of Fossilized Lightning, as shown above. The odds on this aren't great – I've yet to find more than one piece of Fulgurite per match – but it's still worth checking the ground whenever thunderbolts land near you.
What does Fossilized Lightning do?
Fossilized Lightning has two purposes in-game at time of writing: you can sell it for 4000 coins, or recycle it for three pieces of Explosive Compound.
Which of these you should do depends on what you need wherever you are in-game. Explosive Compounds are used fairly frequently to make various mid-and-high-level bombs and mines, but 4000 coins is also the higher end of what items in Arc Raiders can be worth. Ultimately neither of these are especially mind-blowing uses, so judge your needs back at Speranza and see what seems wisest for your situation.
