It's been exactly 1 year since GTA 6 Trailer 2, and fans are being as normal about that as you'd expect: "Trailer 3 is definitely around the corner"
Just a little while longer now…
I'm really starting to worry for GTA 6 fans. More than usual. It's been exactly one year since Rockstar fed them a bit with GTA 6 Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025, but the bread has gone stale, and now people are starting to talk about GTA 6 like it's their lover they lost on the Titanic.
"We are officially going 365 days without any info," begins one r/GTA6 thread with over 6,000 upvotes. "We're yet to see any morsel of new info regarding GTA 6 officially from Rockstar. I'm posting this in hopes of me being wrong lol." But it's probably time to call off the search party – Rockstar confirmed early in 2026 that all of its GTA 6 "launch marketing" will start to release this summer, so we likely won't see Trailer 3 until at least another month or two passes.
Still, some fans propose another option: Rockstar drops Trailer 3 right now, because they said so. They've been picking apart Rockstar's reference to "launch marketing" – does Trailer 3 count as launch marketing? Or does it qualify as a basic human need?
Article continues below"In a torture competition and your opponent is Rockstar," says one popular reply to the r/GTA6 thread mentioned earlier.
"Announcing a delay after all that talk about summer marketing would be a hulk punch to the stomach," observes another commenter. "Trailer 3 is definitely around the corner....."
"It's crazy that my ex left me only 8 months ago and became a total stranger but it feels like a decade ago, but that trailer dropper a year ago and it only feels like it dropped 5 months ago," reads another harrowing comment in a different Reddit thread discussing Trailer 2's anniversary.
But I think GTA 6 fans should start getting comfortable with something even more painful than waiting – it's the truth that Rockstar is in no rush, because the way people clamor for GTA 6 makes the company confident people will shower it with cash no matter what.
Weekly digests, tales from the communities you love, and more
Like, Rockstar finally announced a GTA 6 release date, didn't it? Then the developer suddenly swapped its May 26 launch to November 19 – ostensibly, in pursuit of "perfection," but also because Rockstar knows every other game launch will get out of its way, and its most loyal fans will call in sick to work whenever they're told to.
By that same logic, I don't discount the possibility that Rockstar might suddenly release Trailer 3 today just because it can, and to keep fans' excitement and paranoia roiling. GTA 6 is a cruel, cruel mistress.
