The Boys season 5 episode 7 brings back Gen V stars, but fans are pretty upset about what might be their last appearance
They cameoed in the latest episode
After being teased earlier in The Boy season 5, the latest episode finally brought back some of the Gen V stars for a cameo. Marie Moreau and Jordan Li appeared in episode 7 to give some updates to Starlight and Mother's Milk. However, it's fair to say that their cameo was pretty brief.
The pair appear to give an update about what Oh Father has been up to at Vought Studios before Annie dismisses them, telling them to run and hide. The Supe tells them she doesn't need their help anymore as Marie can't control her powers – and it seems like that's likely the last they'll feature in the final season.
It's quite a surprising move too as there had been some speculation that Marie may be the answer to Homelander's demise after Gen V set her up as being one of the most powerful Supes on the planet. However, that theory is quickly shut down in this exchange too.
"I heard that you're like the chosen one and have Homelander-level strength or some shit," Mother's Milk says to Marie. "Well, reports of my awesomeness have been greatly exaggerated," she simply replied.
Sadly, this might be the last time we see the characters on our screens too after the sad news that Gen V has been canceled. Showrunner Eric Kripke has said he's hopeful they could appear in other projects but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Fans of the show have been reacting to this, sharing their disappointment that they didn't play more of a part in the events of the final season. "What was the point of all the Gen V hype around Marie being potentially as strong as Homelander? They spent seasons building her up as this unique blood-manipulating powerhouse from the Odessa Project only for her to get barely any screen time in the finale," wrote one. "Feels like massive wasted potential."
Meanwhile some other viewers on Reddit felt the scene seemed pretty meta, given the fate of the Gen V spin-off. "Lol the Gen V characters being so disappointed to their storyline abruptly ending is probably how the actors felt," one commented while another added: "It was almost prophetic to how we all feel about it, kind of spooked me a bit lmao."

A third hoped: "They better show up again before the series ends, like... come on."
There's only one episode left in The Boys as the season finale releases next week in theaters and on streaming. Check out our The Boys season 5 release schedule to make sure you don't miss it.
