The Boys fans thinks season 5 is being "too scared" so far when it comes to killing off major characters: "Someone needs to die this week"

Following that episode 1 shocker and all the pre-premiere warnings that claimed "no one was safe" in The Boys season 5, a bunch of fans have admitted to feeling a little... short-changed by the lack of major deaths so far.

Episode 4, titled 'King of Hell', teased plenty of threat for our titular heroes as they broke into Fort Harmony in search of V-One – even if many viewers thought it was nothing more than "filler". As they looked around, the group started bickering, which prompted Frenchie (Tomer Capone) to figure out that a parasitic substance in the air was bringing out their hateful, violent sides. Despite his best efforts to keep his pals calm, the bubbling rage resulted in a big fight.

Elsewhere, Homelander (Antony Starr), who was also on site hunting V-One, got locked in a power-dampening container by his increasingly disgruntled father Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles). Everyone walked unscathed, though, after Frenchie convinced Soldier Boy to kill Quinn, the Supe responsible for the parasitic substance, and Homelander escaping. And it seems like that's not gone down well with a select few...

"Someone needs to die this week," a viewer wrote of the upcoming fifth episode on Reddit. "There have been jokes since the first season that the main cast has crazy plot armor. A-Train is the only meaningful death (that everyone knew was coming). Now that we are halfway through the final season, I hope I'm wrong, but the show is far too scared to kill off main characters. Episode 4 was set up perfectly to end Frenchie's arc, but nah."

"I agree. I think this episode needs to have an important death to give everything that's happening right now more impact. I also think we need to get Homelander going off, like, basically the plane scene x 10 or x 100 so we can see again, but more importantly the people in universe can see, how much of a villain he truly is," added a second.

"Yeah, I'd even be satisfied with someone like Firecracker biting it," a third wrote, while a fourth argued that "the stakes are starting to feel bland".

A couple of unhinged others claimed that they'd like to see every character die "in interesting ways" by the series finale, as a doubted argued that it was a "childish" approach to a still-developing plot. "Character[s] need to die if story demands it. Otherwise no need of death. Death should have purpose in story beside shock value. Specially for main characters," they replied.

Judging by its raucous teaser, episode 5, titled 'One-Shots', will see Ackles reunite with his Supernatural co-star Jared Padalecki onscreen, as the latter guest stars as The Seven's original speedster Mister Marathon.
