The Boys season 5 is continuing full steam ahead as we get closer and closer to that highly anticipated finale.
But, fans of the superhero satire are feeling disappointed by the latest installment of season 5, episode 4.
"In a final season, we shouldn't have an episode that leads nowhere. It started off strong and with an interesting plot, but being the last thing we'll see from the series, this episode felt like nothing at all…" said one fan on Twitter.
Article continues below"I've enjoyed it, but I've felt like the roller coaster stopped in this episode," agreed another fan.
"In summary, the V1 isn't in that lab, end of the summary of this chapter where nothing happened," is another fan's take.
"I had the same feeling this was just a transitional chapter that set things straight and laid the groundwork for what's coming," says another person.
"I liked seeing that Soldier Boy isn't a one-dimensional dumbass, but we already knew that from the third season. The plot advances little, which could be more acceptable if there were greater internal development of the characters, which happened between little and nothing," says someone else.

But, not everyone agrees. "I don't know why people still don't get it and expect every episode in the final season to be nonstop action and be masterpieces," says one fan.
Another fan has pointed out everything that does happen in the episode: "-Annie came back -Frenchie and Kimiko broke up -Soldier Boy ended up traumatized and depressed -Homelander knows that Butcher no longer has the virus -development for Annie -they already know who has the rest of the v1 -Homelander's weakness (enriched uranium)"
In the episode, the Boys, Homelander, and Soldier Boy head to Fort Harmony, but Bombsight has taken the V-One elsewhere already. So, the episode ends in a similar place to where it started – but, as fans point out, plenty of things have changed over the course of the runtime.
