Ahead of The Boys series finale, Homelander star seeimignly shades Stranger Things' low-stakes final episode
Antony Starr has a bone to pick with the Stranger Things finale
As we approach The Boys series finale, which will air on Prime Video later this month, Homelander actor Antony Starr seems to be throwing shade at another popular streaming show and the way in which the team decided to bring the series to a close.
"Something just finished - I won’t say what - and nobody died," said Starr, while taking part in Wired's autocomplete interview. "I was just scratching my head going ‘there’s nowhere else to go this is the end of the run, kill some people!'"
Now, although Starr didn't mention which show he was talking about, many think he is referring to Stranger Things' ending. The highly popular long-running sci-fi show came to an end on New Year's Day, when Eleven, Mike, and the rest of the gang finally killed Vecna and closed the gate to the Upside Down for good. However, many fans felt shortchanged by the finale, so much so that they started an online conspiracy theory known as Conformity Gate, convincing themselves that a secret ninth episode was on the way. But it never came.

After blowing up the gate to the Upside Down, Eleven seemingly sacrificed herself to save her friends and essentially the world. However, during the epilogue, the show offers another reality where Eleven survived and started a new life in rural Iceland. However, many felt that leaving Eleven's fate up to the audience was a bit of an evasion of responsibility on the show's part.
However, The Boys fans seem to have their issues with the superhero show's final season, with many complaining that the season has been pretty low-stakes itself so far, with only two main characters meeting their end. As The Boys season 5 continues to air on Prime Video, we only have a couple more episodes left until the highly anticipated finale brings to a close Homelander and Butcher's ongoing battle.
We know that it is not easy to end a show and you can't please everyone, but there seems to be a lot of pressure on The Boys season finale following Stranger Things and even the tragic Game of Thrones series finale. But hey, even The Sopranos finale was met with a fair few complaints, proving that you can't always please everyone.
