Good news to those still on a high after watching The Odyssey: Spider-Man: Brand New Day is swinging on to IMAX screens this week.
As revealed by the IMAX Twitter account, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is available in the cinematic format in the US from August 7. Tickets are set to go on sale tomorrow, August 4.
There's even a brand-new poster to mark the occasion, with Spidey swinging away from Jon Bernthal's Punisher during one of the movie's big action sequences.
As per the company, IMAX screenings in Japan, South Korea, and China have already grossed an impressive $23 million.
In a statement, IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond said, "We believe more Spidey fans around the world will want to experience his latest adventure in IMAX – and we hope to be a major driver of both new and repeat viewing for the latest hit in this incredible year for moviegoing."
As Gelfond attested to, it's been an exceptional year already for movies in cinemas – bolstered by both Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which became the first movie shot entirely in IMAX. The corporation has also confirmed Spider-Man and The Odyssey will share IMAX screens "across select digital IMAX locations in America."
If you ask us, Brand New Day in IMAX is certainly worth another go. The Hulk fight is an obvious highlight, though you can't discount the other action scenes, nor the shots of Spider-Man swinging through the New York skyline.
Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has broken the record for the biggest US domestic opening at the box office, ahead of Avengers: Endgame's $357 million. A billion dollars is also a lock in the next few days, too. But could the IMAX boost take it even further in the coming weeks?
