Captain America: Civil War directors tease high stakes, Spider-Man, and Infinity War

Marvel will be launching 'Phase Three' of their cinematic universe in four months time with Captain America: Civil War, and in this past month we've gotten a look at the film's first trailer, images, synopsis and more. That doesn't mean there aren't still a few unanswered questions as to what's in store for us with Marvel's latest, and in an interview with Sina Entertainment (via Comic Book Movie) Civil War directors Anthony and Joe Russo gave us more details on their plans for Spider-Man, Captain America and more. Check out the video below...

The introduction of Spider-Man into the MCU has been a big talking point in the lead-up to Civil War for obvious reasons, and Anthony Russo had this to say about their version of the character: "We wanted to think about who is Spider-Man today if he’s living in Queens, what’s the texture of his life like, what’s the texture of his relationship with his aunt who lives with him. How can we make the relationship and character very contemporary? That’s our goal with the character".

The Russos will of course be moving from Civil War to the two part Avengers: Infinity War in the near future, and Joe Russo made it clear that "the stakes of both Civil War and the Avengers: Infinity War movies are gonna be very high, and there will be a price to pay [for?] a lot of characters. And that’s the whole point of cumulative storytelling. We’re going to go on emotional journeys with these characters". Sounds exciting!

It's going to be really interesting to see how the "cumulative storytelling" Joe Russo alludes to pays off in Marvel's next phase. There are still two infinity stones unaccounted for, but it's a safe bet that their locations will be revealed before Infinity War. Will one of the stones be found in Civil War? We'll have to wait until April to find out.

Directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, and starring Tom Holland, Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, Captain America: Civil War opens in UK cinemas on April 29, 2016 and May 6, 2016 in the US.
