Just when you thought the Call of Duty: Warzone Squads kill record was safe, it gets broken again, but this time by an entirely different squad. The latest record of 138 kills was set on May 24 - check out the video of the match below.
It’s here. 138 Kill World Record in Warzone 🏆RT if you’re a real one. Enjoy!https://t.co/MVnoMbAYX9 pic.twitter.com/DCxfETNv2NMay 24, 2020
The recent record was set by a team of four and comes: Vikrima "Vikkstar123" Singh, and three pro esports players form FaZe Atalanta, McCarthur "Celium" Jovel (opens in new tab), Preston "Priestahh" Greiner (opens in new tab), and Tyler "aBeZy" Pharris (opens in new tab). Singh initially posted the record on Twitter (opens in new tab) as 137 kills, but after looking back at the match report realized a 138th kill didn't register.
The reactions on Twitter were exactly what you'd expect from such an impressive performance - high-profile streamers and professional Call of Duty Players wondered how with as even possible, while NYSL player Attach called the quartet "twisted." (opens in new tab)
The above-mentioned squad dethroned the previous record holders, which set a Call of Duty: Warzone Squads kill record of 121 kills on May 15. The squad was comprised of popular Call of Duty players and streamers, Symfuhny (opens in new tab), HusKerrs (opens in new tab), Tyler "TeeP" Polchow (opens in new tab), and DougisRaw (opens in new tab). TylerTeePee shared a clip of the match finale on Twitter, and HusKerrs followed up with a screenshot (opens in new tab) taken after the final kill tally, proving the 121 kill record.
The Squads kill record has jumped from 78 to 113 to 121, and there's no telling how high FPS enthusiasts will push it. Technically, there are only 148 enemy players in a full Squads lobby, but the maximum potential kill count is actually much higher. Players can respawn after dying by winning in the Gulag, or by having their teammates buy them back in, meaning the same player can theoretically be killed multiple times, and each successive kill would count toward the record.
Players have speculated that the Squads kill record will soon break the 150 mark, which would certainly be something to see. I barely break 10 kills on a good day, but I've learned not to underestimate esports pros. I've no doubt this record will be broken again and again.

In other Warzone news, Price may be a playable operator in Season 4 (opens in new tab), players across Verdansk are starting to hear wolves howling (opens in new tab) in more places around the map, with some suggesting this might be related to the datamined Urzikstan map (opens in new tab), the potential arrival of Warzone zombies (opens in new tab), or something to do with those mysterious Warzone bunkers (opens in new tab).
Only time will tell, and we have plenty of time in Warzone to kill, as Infinity Ward has already confirmed (opens in new tab) the mode will be coming to PS5 (opens in new tab) and Xbox Series X (opens in new tab), with future updates tied to successive Call of Duty games, including this year's untitled Call of Duty 2020 (opens in new tab) project from Treyarch.
