Black Friday Xbox One deals - when will they start?

So, the official date for Black Friday 2018 is November 23. However, in previous years - and it's expected to be the same this year - the bargains tend to be spread over the previous and following weeks. So, you're probably looking at the main Xbox deals starting on 16 November, and rolling through until 30 November. However, this doesn't mean you'll have access to everything on day 1. What tends to happen is that retailers release specific deals at specific times, often saving their best offers for the weekend of Black Friday itself.

The Monday following Black Friday is called 'Cyber Monday' and while there isn't a distinction any more, this used to be the day that tech would go on sale. However, it all blends into one, massive shopping event now, so there will be quality tech deals throughout the whole Black Friday period. You won't need to wait until Cyber Monday for a great bargain on a 4K TV, for example.

Black Friday Xbox One deals - what to expect

The big question is: what Xbox One deals will actually appear this year? While only the retailers actually know for certain, we can make a damn good guess. As mentioned above, Microsoft wants to sell Xbox One X consoles, to get all its players properly 4K ready. The console has been available for more than a year now, so it's prime for a price drop. If you're looking at $479 / £410 for an Xbox One X on its own right now, then you're likely to see it drop below $400 on Black Friday. In the UK, you can expect it to even hit £350. And that may even include a game. In the US, you're maybe looking at a PUBG bundle, with something like Forza Horizon 4 and the console for around $420. And in the UK, you could see the Xbox One X with FIFA 19 for £350. Somewhere in that region. So, if you're looking to get yourself a 4K console, Black Friday will absolutely be the time to do it.

What else can you expect? Well, in addition to 4K consoles, Black Friday will also see loads of 4K TVs on sale. Last year we saw discounts of about 30% on some panels, which is a significant saving if you're looking at one that costs $1000 or more. Expect exactly the same deals this year, just on newer and better 4K TVs. If you want a killer 4K set to play your new Xbox One X on... yes, you'll be able to grab a bargain for sure.

In terms of actual Xbox One games, you're going to see discounts on the likes of Sea of Thieves and Far Cry 5 - March's biggest games will undoubtedly come in at maybe $25 each, or lower. £25 if you're in the UK. Don't be surprised if there are decent discounts on the likes of Assassin's Creed Odyssey too, and you'll probably be able to pick up bigger games from 2017 and 2016 for less than $20 or £15. Still not played DOOM? It's always on sale during Black Friday, usually for less than the price of a pizza. Yes.

You'll also see stuff like the best Xbox One headsets going on sale - from the likes of Razer and Logitech - and you'll definitely see reductions on controllers. So, if you're looking to grab a fancy Elite controller, or you're just going to get a second pad to play local co-op with friends, again you'll save a few dollars / pounds on these things. And that least sexy of purchases - the Xbox One external hard drive, for example - will cost you way less too.

And don't forget, Black Friday is always a good time for stocking up on your digital subscriptions. You'll find great savings on Xbox Live Gold 12 month codes, on Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, and on things like FIFA 19 FUT cards. If you pick up more Xbox Gold membership, for example, you could get another 12 months of membership for half price, as we've seen in previous years.
