Here are the best Steam Winter Sale games of 2025 to snap up while the offers last
The Steam Winter Sale 2025 offers are officially underway, and I've been eagerly eyeing lots of discounts. With some of the best games of 2025 now going for historically low prices, this is a great opportunity to snap up some of the new games we saw in the past 12 months for a lot less than they were going for at launch. Kicking off on December 18, the Steam sales this winter are running until January 5 at 10am PT, so you have plenty of time to make the most of the discounts.
But if you find yourself looking for the best Winter Steam sale games to get your hands on at a reduced price, I've put my head together with our very own brand director Sam Loveridge to highlight all of the games we'd absolutely recommend picking up during the sales. From some of the most recent releases that will be perfect to tuck into over the holidays, to notable offers that are great value for money – and some of the best Steam games to add to your library – here's our pick of the best Steam Winter Sale games.
The best Steam Winter Sale games, starting with....
Resident Evil 4 Remake
Release: 2023
Developer: Capcom
Price: $15.99/ £13.99
Genre: Survival horror
Coming in hot with a new historical low price is the Resident Evil 4 Remake, starring the one and only Leon Kennedy. If you've yet to experience Capcom's remake of one of the best Resident Evil games of all time, then there's really never been a better time to do just that. Not only will it save you a big chunk of cash, but it's the perfect game to get stuck into as we approach the release of Resident Evil Requiem in 2026 (which will see Leon return to hopefully roundhouse kick more zombies). And if you're still not sure if this one is for you, our glowing Resident Evil 4 Remake review might just help.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Release: 2025
Developer: Warhorse Studios
Price: $29.99/ £24.99
Genre: RPG
If you're a massive RPG fan like me and you've yet to tuck into Warhorse's richly gritty medieval adventure, then you're in for a treat. Yes, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 arrived in February 2025 to bring us a dense ye olde fantasy as Henry, who gets swept up in a sprawling open-world journey full of conflict, surprises, and plenty of role-playing goodness. As we highlighted in our Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 review, it can take a lot of time to progress, but it's such an absorbing experience. And even if you haven't played the first game (as I hadn't), you can still get stuck. The base game is down to a new low, and if you want DLC, the Royal Edition is also going at a discounted price.

Avowed
Release: 2025
Developer: Obsidian Entertainment
Price: $34.99/ £29.99
Genre: RPG
If one game dominated the start of 2025 for me, it was Avowed. Of course, I also ended up tucking into Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 around the same time, but Obsidian's fantasy RPG set in the Pillars of Eternity universe offered a more approachable adventure to sink into. Happily, it's also down to a record-low price in the Steam Winter sales, and I can't recommend it enough if you've yet to pick it up. With a flexible combat system (magic is endlessly fun), different character builds to play with, memorable companions, and a vibrant world made up of open zones, if I haven't convinced you, our Avowed review just might.
Assassin's Creed Shadows
Release: 2025
Developer: Ubisoft
Price: $34.99/ £29.99
Genre: Open-world RPG
The good RPG times just keep coming in the Steam Winter sale with Ubisoft's latest stealthy open-world seeing 50% shaved off the price tag. So, if you've been holding off on Assassin's Creed Shadows, this is a new low price that could be worth taking advantage of if you're looking for a vast, richly detailed open-world to get lost in. As our Assassin's Creed Shadows review highlights, there's no shortage of things to occupy your time within the setting of Feudal Japan as you switch between dual protagonists Naoe and Yasuke, who both offer up different fighting styles and weapons to try out, along with intertwining story beats.

Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered
Release: 2024
Developer: Aspyr / Crystal Dynamics
Price: $8.99/ £7.49
Genre: Action-adventure
As our intrepid brand director Sam highlighted, this is such a steal of a deal for anyone looking to experience Lara Croft's original adventures or revisit them ahead of the upcoming remake Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. Slated to release in 2026, Legacy of Atlantis is set to bring us a reimagining of Lara's first 1996 game, and in this collection, you can step into a remastered version of the original, along with the second and third entries in the series. Three games with all of the expansions and extras included for less than $10? Don't mind if I do.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
Release: 2025
Developer: Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio
Price: $23.99/ £21.99
Genre: Action-RPG
Calling all Yakuza fans (or anyone who's ever said it's a pirate's life for me), because Ryu Ga Gotoku's recent pirate adventure is now down to a record low price on Steam. Switching up the streets of Japan for the sands of Hawaii, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza sees Majima and his eyepatch take on a very different role as a pirate captain. Over-the-top, packed with humor, and the series signature helping of action, it's a fun spin on the series that's packed with side content. But don't just take my word for it, our Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii review is here to help, too, if you're thinking about making the most of this offer.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Release: 2023
Developer: Respawn
Price: $10.49/ £8.99
Genre: Action-RPG
If you want to go to a galaxy far, far away, then Star Wars Jedi Survivor is almost being given away right now, just in the Steam Winter sale. I mean, just over $10 for a galaxy-spanning adventure that made me feel like a lightsaber master? It certainly is something to write home about. If you've yet to dive into the sequel to Cal Kestis' first adventure, Fallen Order (which is also available for the incredibly low price of just $3.99 / £3.49), it's well worth considering. Set five years after the original game, the follow-up is packed with emotional depth, high stakes, and Jedi powers that are endlessly fun to play around in and out of combat. You can learn more in our Star Wars Jedi Survivor review.

Elden Ring Nightreign

If you're a fan of FromSoftware, or you're looking for a challenging experience you can play with pals online, then Elden Ring: Nightreign might just be the answer. Right now, it's going for a record new low price tag during the Steam Winter sales, so it's a great time to pick it up for less if you've been holding off or want to give it a go this holiday season. Taking on the role of one of several different Nightfarers – who all offer their own playstyles – there are plenty of boss battles to conquer with up to three players. Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Release: 2024
Developer: Sandfall Interactive
Price: $39.99/ £33.59
Genre: RPG
Clair Obscur Expedition 33 earned a host of awards, is GamesRadar+'s GOTY of 2025, and is also easily one of the best RPGs of recent times. And if you've yet to get stuck into this gem, then this price tag just might convince you if its many accolades don't. Bringing to life a unique world and storyline that will surprise you, capture your imagination, and tug at your heartstrings, the combat also presents a satisfying challenge. As our Clair Obscur Expedition 33 review says, it really is a love letter to JRPGs, with some incredible performances from its cast. And with 20% off its price tag, this is a great way to experience it for yourself for less.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Ultimate Edition
Release: 2024
Developer: Massive Entertainement
Price: $20.99/ £17.99
Genre: Open-world adventure
If there was ever a game I'd recommend to just about anyone, it's Red Dead Redemption 2. Having finished it for the very first time in 2025, I haven't really stopped thinking about Arthur Morgan's sprawling, emotional Wild West adventure for a moment. Rockstar brings to life a reactive open-world that feels so alive, and the story and action is so engrossing, you'll have a hard time stepping away from it once you begin. With the Ultimate Edition going for less than $20, you're getting a lot of bang for your buck here. Boy howdy.

I started out writing for the games section of a student-run website as an undergrad, and continued to write about games in my free time during retail and temp jobs for a number of years. Eventually, I earned an MA in magazine journalism at Cardiff University, and soon after got my first official role in the industry as a content editor for Stuff magazine. After writing about all things tech and games-related, I then did a brief stint as a freelancer before I landed my role as a staff writer here at GamesRadar+. Now I get to write features, previews, and reviews, and when I'm not doing that, you can usually find me lost in any one of the Dragon Age or Mass Effect games, tucking into another delightful indie, or drinking far too much tea for my own good.
