The Dark Knight Rises teaser trailer is online

It was showing before Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 this weekend, but now the official teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises has been unleashed online.

It turned up on the movie’s official Facebook page, and it offers salivating fans the chance to rewatch it at their leisure.

At a lean 1 minute 33 seconds, Nolan and co have packed in enough to get the pulse pounding without revealing much about the plot.

Commissioner Gordon’s hurting bad, hooked up to life support in a hospital bed. Bruce Wayne is being coaxed into returning to protect Gotham. Tom Hardy’s monstrous brute Bane looks set to be Batman's biggest threat yet.

Plus, we get reminded, via recycled Batman Begins and The Dark Knight clips, Liam Neeson's voiceover, and some ominously worded title cards (“Every Journey Has An End’), that this will be the final outing for Nolan’s Caped Crusader.

Watch the teaser trailer for yourself right now:

The Dark Knight Rises opens on 20 July 2012.
