TGS 2011: Nintendo's 3DS slide-pad attachment is real, requires an extra battery and will cost you money

In the craziness of its pre-TGS 3DS press conference, one piece of information was completely ignored by Nintendo - the rumoured 3DS additional slide-pad attachment. Instead, its existence was confirmed when Nintendo silently posted details and pictures of the peripheral to its hardware page. Here it is in all its ugly glory:

The slide-pad add-on is scheduled to be released 10 December in Japan, priced at 1,500 Yen (about £12/$19). Alternatively, Capcom is bringing out a Monster Hunter 3G bundle pack on the same day, priced at 6,900 Yen (about £56/$89). Other titles confirmed as compatible with the attachment are Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, Kingdom Hearts 3D, Resident Evil Revelations, Ace Combat 3D: Cross Rumble and Dynasty Warriors VS.

Thankfully the add-on runs on a separate AAA battery, so it won't effect the 3DS’ long-lasting battery life. No wait, that’s wrong. But still, the slide-pad add-on looks good. Wait, no it doesn’t. At least there's a wide range of 3DS games to choose from. No, that’s not right either.
