Sons of Anarchys Tommy Flanagan joins Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Last month writer-director James Gunn announced the cast for the eagerly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which included the likes of franchise newcomers Kurt Russell and Pom Klementieff in addition to the returning Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and Dave Bautista. Thanks to Heroic Hollywood, it's been confirmed that another new name has been added to the call sheet - Tommy Flanagan.

Flanagan is probably best known to audiences as Filip ‘Chibs’ Telford from Sons of Anarchy, but the actor has had roles in several popular movies and TV shows over his career including Gladiator, Braveheart, Sin City, 24, and most recently Gotham.

Flanagan is said to be playing "the right hand man of [Michael Rooker's] Yondu Udonta", and according to the report Yondu's Ravagers will have a bounty out on Rocket Racoon. If we were to hazard a guess as to where this fits in within the plot of Vol. 2, the plot would probably be secondary to whatever threat the Guardians end up facing. In any case, Flanagan is a strong addition to an impressive cast.

Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Kurt Russell, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit UK cinemas on April 28, 2017 and open in US theatres on May 5, 2017.
