Target cuts Wii U Basic price to $240

U.S. retailer keeps normal MSRP for Deluxe bundle

U.S. retailer Target has cut its online price for the Wii U Basic bundle by 20 percent. That leaves the bundle's price tag at $240, down $60 from its original $300 MSRP (via Nintendo Everything).

Target's sale appears to be isolated: GameStop, Best Buy, and Walmart prices are holding steady.

The move may have been influenced by Wii U's slower-than-expected performance. On the other hand, the Wii U Deluxe bundle, which includes more built-in storage and a copy of Nintendo Land, has been in higher demand than its Basic counterpart and remains at its usual $350 price.

If you're planning to do a lot of eShopping you'll likely need an external hard drive either way--so unless you really want Nintendo Land, the Digital Deluxe promotion, and some cradles and stands, it's not a bad deal at all.
