Star Wars: The Last Jedi footage reveals Leia's new costume, take a closer look

The lovely tribute to Carrie Fisher that helped kick off Star Wars Celebration 2017 on Thursday was mostly made of old footage, interviews, and fond memories - but it also had a little treat for fans wondering what Leia will look like in the next film. Perceptive Star Wars YouTuber Mike Zeroh spotted the understated scene of Fisher walking alongside Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson.

I've pulled out a gif of the moment in question.

Fisher is in full costume and makeup, looking like she's in discussion with Johnson on the way to or from filming a scene. She appears to be dressed for diplomacy rather than military business time. There's some chromakey green in the background, but that's obviously a bit difficult to draw details from.

Fisher's estate has granted Lucasfilm permission to use her image in Star Wars 9, so The Last Jedi won't be her last appearance in the series despite her death in December 2016. We'll likely see more very soon when Star Wars Celebration's The Last Jedi panel begins later today.

Stay tuned to our Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017 hub page for more news from the event as it happens.

Directed by Rian Johnson and starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Laura Dern, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, and Benicio del Toro, Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in cinemas on December 15, 2017.
