Sherlock season 4 filming in spring 2016, will be 'dark'

Sherlock fans will have a little while to wait to see their hero back in action, with Stephen Moffat revealing that the fourth season of the popular BBC drama is not scheduled to begin filming until spring 2016.

"[Series four] is going to be... I suppose you'd say... consequences,” said Moffat in a BAFTA press briefing. “It's consequences. Chickens come to roost. It's dark in some ways - obviously it's great fun and a Sherlock Holmes romp and all that - but there's a sense of things coming back to bite you.”

Benedict Cumberbatch and Marting Freeman both have packed schedules, which would go some way towards explaining the wait for the new series. In the meantime, fans can look forward to a Victorian-themed special that is set to air over the Christmas period.
