Parasite Eve heading to PSN to promote The 3rd Birthday

Just in time to promote its PSP sequel, The 3rd Birthday, Square Enix announced Tuesday that they will release the original Parasite Eve on the PlayStation Network for the PS3 and PSP. Parasite Eve II will follow later this month. All that nostalgia will cost you $10 dollars a title.

You may have noticed that the game that these releases are promoting, The 3rd Birthday, lacks the words 'Parasite Eve' in the title. That's because the original game was based on a sci-fi novel in Japan. Square Enix no longer holds the rights to make new games based off of the book, meaning the words Parasite Eve had to be dropped from the game's title. Already out in Japan, The 3rd Birthday will be released in North America on March 29 and in Europe on April 1. No joke.

I don't think PE1 ever came to Europe so I'm pretty happy to finally be able to play it :)

Screw PE2, I'm going to go apeshit on the first! PE1 is one of my favorite games of all time. c.c

What? I mean, is there ever going to be a PE RPG? Can't they like try to buy the rights back to make PE3?

    Um, Einhander? Anyone?

Dang it now I have to get a PS3. Parasite eve is so worth having you realize how long I fought in the Chrysler building and why I hate roaches with so much anger.

Pleasant surprise when I visited the store. Only played the second one and heard that the first was loads better. Excited for 3rd b-day.

I guess that this bit of gaming nostalgia bliss is a mite cheaper than others somehow because it falls about $4.00 (US) cheaper than other Squaresoft offerings on the PSN? That price helped Parasite Eve to become to only PS1 game currently on my PS3's harddrive. That and I already have most of the classic PS1 games such as Xenogears,Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story on disc. They haven't gone stale quite yet even if their graphics are looking a bit crusty ,not that there was ever a time that they didn't look so(with the exception of FFT which holds up as well as any 2-D visuals tend to do). It's a real shame that The Third Birthday is not coming out on the PS3 nor are the first two games in the series aren't getting any HD makes that anyone has seen fit to announce.

Parasite Eve is one of the classic PSone games I never got to play, so this is dope! StoneDreadnaught: I did the same thing with Marvel vs. Capcom 2 in the past -- I bought the Dreamcast version off eBay for $40 like the day before I found out it was coming to XBLA and PSN.

I love parasite eve and I'm glad it is finally coming to psn. I just wish 3rd birthday was playable on the ps3.

Damn, that kind of looks interesting! I'll be looking into this : )

Goddamnit! I JUST bought the original Parasite Eve off of Amazon for $26 and I see THIS as I log in today. Ugh...

In Canada... And the U.S too I would imagine... The price for Parasite Eve 1 is $5.99, not $10.

I'm happy about this. I've always wanted to try these but never had the opportunity, but this changes that.
