    It would be very bad PR for the company, which would likely result in lost business for them. They're trying to hit the company where it hurts - the bank account.

    There's not a slew of job opportunities, so having to work under horrible conditions (I'm assuming) and little pay doesn't really make you thank whoever that your alive. Let alone that it might have just been used to get attention, which certainly worked.

    This is true for those that no longer are employed. For those that are still employed, they commit suicide because the benefit paid to their family is substantial (at least compared to the salaries). http://kotaku.com/5682371/report-another-worker-dead-at-game-console-manufacturer
