Multiple product listings for what appear to be an unannounced XCOM project have surfaced online. XCOM: Enemy Within is currently being listed on the Steam Database, as well as the South Korean rating board's website for release on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3
It’s unclear if Enemy Within is a sequel to Firaxis Games' XCOM: Enemy Unknown, but in a statement sent to VG247, 2K Games raised hopes that it’s working on a follow-up to last year’s excellent reboot of the strategy series, a possibility which was first teased in March alongside the unveiling of an iOS port. “We’re looking forward to making an announcement on August 21,” the publisher said. “We don’t have any further comment at this time.”
We said in our XCOM: Enemy Unknown review: “Firaxis has done a remarkable job at adapting the classic gameplay of XCOM in a way that should satiate both fans of the series and those new to the genre, and though it’s capable of being brutally difficult, it doesn’t shy away from rewarding you for your successes. It’s a game that should absolutely be played by anyone interested in a more strategic take on the cliched alien invasion story--so long as you’re not afraid to lose a fight once or twice.”
