The presence of veteran actress Jean Simmons is the most notable aspect of this gentle family saga, written and directed by British aristocrat David Rocksavage.

Set on the North Norfolk coast during the late ’60s, it’s about an ailing grandmother (Simmons), living alone in her beloved country home, who’s visited one summer by her divorced son (James Wilby) and his two children.

There are pretty images of East Anglian landscapes, poetry readings… and a disappointing smoothing-over of the material’s dramatic possibilities.

A cosy Sunday-evening telly slot surely beckons.
