Fantastic Four, Jupiter Ascending and more battle for Worst Movie of 2015

The Oscars are just around the corner, but before we find out who deserves our collective praise, the Razzies are going to let us know who deserves our cultural disdain. The annual "awards" show has released its nominees for the worst of the worst in 2015 film - that means worst movie, actor, actress, supporting actor, supporting actress, screenplay, director, remake/sequel, and "screen combo." (Sadly, this combo refers to the relationships between actors or even an actor and their props, not a popcorn, candy, and a Coke from the concessions stand.)

Fifty Shades of Grey, Pixels, and Jupiter Ascending lead the pack with six nominations each, while Fantastic Four gets away with just five - the lead actors avoided nominations in the "Worst Actor/Actress" categories, but all four got lumped into the "Worst Screen Combo" category, so it's not exactly a blessing.

I never got around to seeing most of these, but I recently watched Jupiter Ascending, and … yeah, that movie reads like a weird fanfic where Bella Swan from Twilight gets rescued by albino Shadow the Hedgehog and they fight to escape the clutches of Space Dracula and his legion of Space Dragons. Also: there are cyberpunk cosplay enthusiasts for some reason. Bless its visually stunning, bizarre heart, but that movie is not good.

This year will also see the return of the special "Razzie Redeemer Award," which commends previous nominees for their rise out of mediocrity. Ben Affleck, previous "winner" of Worst Actor for his role in Gigli, took home last year's Redeemer Award thanks to his work on Argo and Gone Girl. This year, the nominees are Elizabeth Banks, M. Night Shyamalan, Will Smith, and Sylvester Stallone.
