Jason Momoa hints at a return to tradition for Aquaman

Jason Momoa’s first appearance as Aquaman in the "unite the seven" teaser poster certainly set tongues wagging, with the former Game Of Thrones star looking suitably imposing as the ocean-dwelling superhero. That said, a common criticism was that his costume didn’t appear to bear a great deal of relation to the one sported by his comic-book counterpart.

However, while Zack Snyder’s typical colour palette is dominated by darker shades, Momoa has hinted that there may yet be room for a nod to Aquaman’s more traditional garb. "There might be some bit of orange and green," said Momoa, during an interview with The Robot's Voice. "A bit of respect to prior work. But I think he is meaner now and upset – look at what has been done to our oceans. That’s his world that has been polluted."

Will Aquaman be going all eco-warrior on us? Will he be playing the Captain Planet role in DC’s newly expanded roster of superheroes? Probably not, although it’s interesting to hear Momoa describing him in a real-world context. Momoa will get his own solo movie in 2018, but before then we can look forward to seeing him make his bow in Batman v Superman on March 25 2016.
