Update: Preorders are live now if you'd like to sign up for a year. Instead of £59.99 for 12-months, an offer is available where you can save £10 on the already discounted pass. Compared to the regular monthly cost though, you save £21.89 overall. This offer expires March 23rd though.

The Disney Plus UK release date has just changed...for the better! Originally penciled in for March 31, UK Disney and Marvel fans can start streaming Disney Plus a week earlier on March 24.

It will also launch for the majority of mainland Europe on the same day, including Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland with the promise of more being announced soon.

What with the recent news of the Dying Light 2 delay, (not to mention Final Fantasy VII Remake, The Avengers and Cyberpunk 2077), it's great to see Disney moving ahead of schedule. It does come, however, with an ominous warning: “titles may vary by territory.”

So don’t quite expect the list of TV shows and movies on Disney Plus to mirror the US library straight away. “Titles may vary by territory” means exactly that. While we don’t have any idea (yet) on what will be missing out – or included exclusively – the UK rights for many popular shows, such as The Simpsons, are divided up between different broadcasters. Wrestling back those streaming rights may be beyond even the House of Mouse. Maybe we'll have to dust off our best VPN for Netflix guide to compare listings in March.

That March 24 UK date for Disney Plus is still months after the original release date in the US and a small number of other territories around the world. We've been eagerly awaiting the chance to dive in and enjoy the likes of The Mandalorian as well as the hundreds-strong set of movies and TV shows available on Disney Plus for a while now.

UK pricing is similar to that of the US. A single month will be £5.99 a month and will roll over each month, just like a Netflix sub. However, if you'd like to sign up for a year-long deal, it will cost £59.99 which saves you nearly £12 compared to paying monthly. You can't order yet, but keep an eye on our Disney Plus sign-up guide for the latest dates and bundles.
