Well it looks like we still have a few weeks of sanity left to go before roguelike supreme The Binding Of Isaac Rebirth gets its enormous Afterbirth expansion. Creator Edmund McMillen has announced (opens in new tab) that basement add-on Afterbirth will be available to buy from October 30th on PC. Consoles will be getting the DLC at a later date, with PS4 coming sooner rather than later.
"I had a lot of ideas for Afterbirth and the more ideas that kept coming the more I kept thinking ‘this would just have been a lot better if I were to have rewritten a whole new game," McMillen told me earlier this year and his blog announcement (opens in new tab) reveals it will add over one hundred new hours to the original game.
There are literally hundreds of new items, over a thousand new rooms with different designs, twenty five new enemy types, a new playable character and a new final boss and area. Add in the new Greed mode that's a new way to play the game and daily runs to compete with friends and my RSIsaac is going to be back with a vengeance.
Afterbirth will be priced at $9.99. It'll be available to pre-order on Steam soon which will apparently get you a "significant chunk off." You can see the disturbing release date trailer above and if you're looking for more madness, take a look at why Isaac has its claws in you so tightly in my interview with Edmund McMillen (opens in new tab).
